Editor's note: These rankings are based on player production in terms of Hockey Prospectus' GVT valuation metric. If you are unfamiliar with GVT and how it works, you can find out more here.
Periodically throughout the season, Prospectus will provide updated Player Power Rankings for the top 10 skaters and top five goalies in the NHL based on HP's proprietary value metric, GVT, which includes offensive, defensive and shootout components.
This week, Marian Hossa reclaims the No. 1 skater ranking and separates himself from the field, and Boston's Tim Thomas leaps Henrik Lundqvist in the goalie rankings but can't catch the Kings' Jonathan Quick.
Note: These rankings do not include games played on Sunday, Jan. 15. If they did, Evgeni Malkin would have snuck into the Top 10 skaters list. Look for him in next week's edition.
These rankings are through Jan. 14. Total GVT might not equal the sum of the subcategories because of factors that aren't shown.

You can access the whole list on the Stats tab. With so many skaters bunched closely together, it's not surprising to still see several names moving in and out of the list each week.
