Displaying pretext
Devils general manager Lou Lamoirello, past history aside, insists he is not ready to make a coaching change.
Lamoriello has a history of pulling the trigger quickly on coaches. Thus, with the Devils at 9-20-2, there has been plenty of speculation that first-year coach John MacLean is likely to be fired. However, MacLean remains on the job and apparently isn't in any danger.
"I still believe in the players in that locker room and I still believe in the coaching staff," Lamoriello said. "I never thought we would be in a situation like this, fighting to get back into it, but I think we can do it. What we need is every player working together and not wanting to let down the person next to you."
Lamoriello did put left winger Brian Rolston and his big salary on waivers this past week. Predictably, Rolston passed and Lamoriello made no other moves to shake up the roster.

This is really a phenomenal series. Boudreau's entertaining tirades aside (he doesn't use ANY other swears besides the f-word), it's just a great look into the lives of the players on and off the ice. I hope this becomes an annual tradition, much like the NFL training camp shows.
