Montreal’s hot start (7-3-1) definitely looks to be at odds with our VUKOTA projection for the team, but it’s a long season, folks. The biggest questions for 2010-11 are the performance of starting goaltender Carey Price and whether #1 defenseman Andrei Markov can stay in the lineup for any extended period of time—both are critical to any real success for the Habs. As far as the future, you wonder whether the Canadiens can bolster their team from within to any appreciable degree, with good but not great talent in their farm system like Hockey Prospectus’ #30 prospect Lars Eller and #45 prospect Louis LeBlanc.
